I made bad decisions during my pregnancy and my baby died

I am sharing this story because I am hoping other mothers would learn from it. I had made several decisions, out of ignorance and arrogance, that partly contributed to his death. My 4th child a boy was born last year. He was stillborn. I contributed to his death. I thought I was an experienced mother so when I found out I was pregnant, I went for a scan. I refused to go to the hospital, I did not attend antenatal after all I had had 3 baby girls already and already knew what to take. I was convinced this baby would be born OK. My church has a maternity home so in my 7th month I went there to register. At my 8 month it appeared my stomach was smaller and I had stopped gaining weight. I asked the midwives if I should go do a scan, they said no it was okay. To got the long story short, 2 days before his due date, my son died inside me. Lack of amniotic fluid caused his umbilical cord to get blocked, and there were blood clots inside. He had fought for his life. I felt it inside me but just thought he was unusually active - then he went quiet. If my son had had a "real" doctor and I had gone to a hospital and for antenatal classes they would have noticed that my amniotic fluid was low, I may have been induced early, and he'd be here today. I made bad decisions during my pregnancy and my baby died. I feel really bad about it because I was so looking forward to having a boy.
