As soon as I found out that I was pregnant, i decided that I was going to exclusively breastfeed my baby. While it was not very easy in the first few days and weeks, after a while it became easier and i managed to breastfeed my son exclusively for 6 months. Now my issue is whenever people ask me what my baby is eating and i tell them its breastmilk, they would always try to discourage me. What annoys me most is when mothers, who have tried and failed or given up on breastfeeding, try to tell me that I might not be able to do it or some babies don't even like breast milk or "when he is 12 months, I have to switch to formula. My son is now 13 months, is still breastfeeding and Im not ashamed of it. Just because you couldn't breastfeed does not mean I wont be able to, just because you tried for a couple weeks and gave up does not mean I will. I know there are women who honestly tried as hard as they could until they had no choice but to resort to formula. When I decided I will exclusively breastfeed, I knew it would be uncomfortable and maybe painful at first, I knew it was not going to be easy, I knew it will have taken some more patience and practice than mixing water and powder. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I just want women to stop discouraging others who are trying to give their babies the best by breastfeeding them.
