I have a good, well paying job and everyone in my family knows this. My husband runs his own business and once in awhile has his challenges. Of recent my sister-in-law has been having financial issues, paying school fees, looking after her home as her hubby lost his job and she does not work. Hubby has been supplementing them but now he can no longer do so. I don't know what he told her so last week she called me and asked to borrow money. This is the same SIL this holiday that was bragging to me about the school her children go to. I refused and I told her that I won't lend her any money. I wanted to advice her to change her children’s school to something cheaper but said to mind my business. This weekend my mother-in-law told my husband to come and visit her without me. When my husband got there, she wanted to know why I didn't lend money to her daughter. She said I don't feel like a part of her family. First of all I don't understand why she has to ask my husband to come alone. Why can't she say this to my face? Why is it my responsibility to lend money to her daughter? I don't even know if I should say anything to her since she didn't say anything to me directly. But I dont want to start a habit of borrowing money to someone that it will be difficult to collect it back from. The good thing is that hubby has not put pressure on me but if he does what should I do? Does anyone else borrow their inlaws money? Is it a good idea?
