My in-laws are very possessive.
My children go to their grandparents house on a regular basis and sleep over there some weekends. My MIL has always been a stay at home mum and for her looking after her family and children is very important to her. The truth is that I love the relationship my children have their grandparents. Now the issue I have been having is that they are quite possessive about things they buy for the children. When my last baby was not in daycare, he used to go to my inlaws house everyday and so I made sure that everything he needed was always there, diapers, wipes, formula etc all MIL has to do is let me know when things were finishing so we can replace them. Now that all my children are older and because they go there frequently my in-laws have started acting funny. For example my MIL will buy things for the children and when we try to take it to our house, they will refuse and say its for granmas and granpas house. So any toys that they buy for them has to remain in their house. I think this is very strange as if you buy a gift for a child you should expect them to use it however they want. The same goes with cups, plates or cutlery they will insist that we cannot take it to our house. Now this Christmas they bought the children presents but when it was time to live MIL said we had to leave the toys in their house because they were for granmas house. I am getting tired of this behaviour and want to know if this is normal. Do most grandparents actually do this?
