Am I overreacting?

Ask Mamalette Category: Newborn Care Am I overreacting?

I had my first baby in December last year and he is the first grandchild on both sides of the family. I have always had a very close relationship with my in laws and see his mum and dad and sisters like my own family. We have never had any disagreements or arguments until the baby was born. My MIL has been around for omugwo but has been doing something that has been annoying me. Whenever I give her the baby to carry she will say, "Oh darling...come to mummy" I am always so angry when she says it. I think it is so inappropriate..I dont think it is right to say "come to mummy" to someone else's child. Does she think she is his mummy?
If not, why is she saying that?  I am worried what she will be saying this to him when Im not there...and when I go back to work next month, she will be looking after him. I dont feel comfortable.

LOL THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH WHAT SHE IS SAYING!! SEE TRUTH IS THAT MAY BE HOW SHE KNOWS HOW TO SHOW LOVE. MY DEAR! IT IS NOT, SHE IS YOUR HUSBAND MUM...IN THE END YOUR CHILD WILL GROW UP TO KNOW WHO HIS MOM IS... KEEP SHOWING HIM LOVE AFTER ALL SHE WILL GO BACK SOON. DONT USE YOUR OWN HAND TO LOOK FOR WHAT IS NOT THERE.. IS VERY HARD TO SEE A LOVELY FAMILY IN LAW OOO
