Foods To Feed Your Baby From 6-9 Months

When your baby is around 6-9 months, they'd want to try out new foods, it's now left to you to watch out for foods they can be allergic to and foods which they can eat. And here's a comprehensive list of foods your child can eat and how it can benefit them;

Fruits and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables as you well know are important for your developing baby, it's time to get creative and find ways to incorporate fruits into your baby's meal Apple, pineapple, potato, banana, avocado, pear, mango, tomato, carrot, melon.

Meat

Your baby should get most of the protein they need from milk, so the main benefit of introducing milk is because it will provide them with extra iron. Iron is an essential part of the blood stream, carrying oxygen to tissues to provide the energy needed for growth. At first, it's best to introduce chicken or turkey. Do not give your baby processed meats like ham or hot dogs.

Once your baby has started eating and loving chicken or turkey, you can then introduce beef or lamb.

Fish

Fish is high in protein, potassium and vitamins, fish is perfectly healthy for babies. And it contains Omega 3 fatty acids, which lower cholesterol and prevent high blood pressure. You can mash it for your baby or add it to their food. Remember to remove the bone before offering it to your baby.

Yoghurt

Your baby can start taking yoghurt once they are 6 months, just make sure it's natural, unsweetened yogurt, add some fruit to tempt your baby. Your baby needs diary products such as egg, cheese, milk, yoghurt and fats. You can give your baby mashed egg yolk, you can try giving your baby whole egg although some babies are allergic to egg white. You can also add egg yolk to your baby's puree meals as egg yolk is good for your baby's brain development.

Foods like beans, peas and lentils are also high in protein and can be added to your baby's diet, although you give them these foods minimally.

When can you start mashing food for 6 to 9 months old babies?

That should be around 7-8 months when your child has grown a teeth or two, although some children don't grow teeth until they are a year old or more. But once the teeth appear, you can start giving your baby mashed foods.

Watch your baby, when he becomes used to mashed foods, then switch to finely chopped foods. Let your child set the pace though, be patient and keep trying.

Stick to water for as long as you can, it's more beneficial to your baby and once your baby has never had juice or soft drinks he wouldn't know what he's missing, right?
