I admit I made a couple of mistakes when I had my first child, the internet was mainly my best friend and my mom's friend too (my mum's late) thankfully my son is a year old now and I didn't make a mistake that'll take him away from me, but if I had the chance I to redo some things here are some things I would redo again as a new mom knowing what I know now;
1. I would've introduced a pacifier sooner
It's always good to wait until your baby knows your breast before introducing pacifier and since my baby caught on to nursing right away, I feel I should have introduced the pacifier early, maybe my baby would have been able to soothe herself to sleep by sucking on the pacifier and slept better at night
2. I wouldn’t have given up on bottle-feeding
I wish I had introduced the bottle when she was 5 months, at least I wouldn't have to fish out my breast in public when she wants to nurse, but instead bottle-fed her until we get to a private place where I can nurse without wondering if someone is embarrased by the sight of my dripping breast.
3. I would've used my baby carriers a lot more.
I bought a baby carrier but I didn't use it because of the various criticism that follows mothers that carry their baby with a sling. But now that I think about it, I should have damned what people will say and used my baby carrier, it would have made so many things easy for me.
4. I would've done more skin-to-skin at birth
I wasn't able to bond with my baby until I was discharged from the hospital 6 days later, I know the importance of skin-to-skin contact with baby during birth which is why I tried more of it at home to make up for the lost time. And yes it helped me bond with my baby.
