I need to know is beating a child the best way to discipline a child. What are alternative measures to correct a child?

Beating should be the last alternative to discipline a child.

Continous counselling, giving reasons why he/she must(not) do certain things and the consequences there after, mild punishment (kneeling down, raising of hands)…when beatng,it should be slight.

Remember that beatng differs from CHILD ABUSE!

Beating should not be an option at all. I am a mother of two girls, I used to beat my first but since I stopped I have noticed that she pays more attention to my counseling now than before.

Yes! While a child is still young, beat them (not abuse or try to murder them) as a form of discipline.

Yes! While a child is still young, beat them (not abuse or try to murder them) as a form of discipline. By beating, I mean slapping and hitting with a stick or something on the hand. With this sort of radical punishment the child experiences at a young age, they are able to learn right from wrong, then when they grow into adolescence they already have made the parents the authority figure and know that if they do something stupid, they will eventually get a much harder beating since they have grown up somewhat. If you simply discipline a young child (younger than 10 years of age) by yelling, arguing, or grounding, they will ultimately lose respect for you through learning how to argue back or deciding that they could simply play video games in their room. That simply sets them up for disrespecting you as a parent. By all means, beat them when it comes down to it. Don’t fear them, don’t fear that you’re being a bad parent. You’re being a good parent for disciplining them when they act inappropriately or out of turn.

^That’s how my parents disciplined me: beating me as a young child, scolding me as an adolescent. I could never argue back as a teenager because I already had that mentality build into me starting around when I was a little five year old. But hey, looking back at it now, I’m grateful for them beating me. I didn’t do anything stupid as a teenager and paid attention in school. Guess that’s why I’m heading to Med School now. All in all, that’s how I was disciplined and it worked.
