My nanny started working for us when our son was born. I did not want to put him in a daycare after maternity leave so me and my husband thought that hiring an older woman with children will be the best option and that was what we did. When she first started working with us this woman was married and had 2 older children. Now my son is 1 year old and we want to enrol him in a daycare in January. Now in the last 2 months our nanny’s husband left and the children. She said he went to marry another woman. Her husband has refused to give her money for the upkeep of her children so she depends only on her salary. We are so torn because we are now this poor woman’s only source of income. She uses that money to feed her children. Now our problem is that when we tell her our plans she may not be happy because she would have to look for another job. We don’t know how to do this without hurting her feelings. I am tempted to wait until my son starts proper school so as to make sure she gets on her own feet but my husband thinks it’s time for him to start socialising with other children. Mamas what do you think?
