Please Mamalette, how do I handle this problem? My mother in- law lives with me in a foreign land. She always wants to control me & my hubby. She always causes drama in my marriage. This marriage is just a year plus.Recently ,I over heard her reporting me to my hubby over the phone. Just because she asked me to do stuff in her own way & I refused. I got angry with my hubby when He came back from work asking what happened. It seems to me He pays attention to whatever she reports, hence the anger.This woman always poke nose into my affair with my hubby which I don't like. I have spoken with my husband about His mother's attitude towards me & this marriage . He keep preaching to me, that I should ignore His mum, & that He is not buying her idea. Yet things keep spoiling. She always abuse me verbally , monitors me even in my kitchen . The worst is that my hubby do not want to take a positive action . He keep settling us when ever issues comes up between I & His mother. My mil is not happy seeing us happy. She want us to practice old people's kind of marriage in this generation . For example, that I should be bowing down for my husband , that during her time ,her husband use to beat her . So u can imagine her mind set. I have a baby with me, but she does not assist me in the house but only to cause trouble , eat & sleep. I am good a wife to my husband but all the same I am not happy . Please I need your advice no insult.
