My 8 year old daughter tends to be careless and loses things frequently. She mostly loses her books, shoes, stationery (pens, pencils, etc.), water bottles and even her glasses. And when I say she loses them - they disappear never to be seen again. She lets people at school borrow things and doesn't get them back and doesn't care. I have told her to be more careful with her possessions but she keeps losing everything she takes to school. She seems very upset after every loss and is very sorry every time, but it keeps happening. Incentives haven’t helped either. We told her that she would get a prize if she didn’t lose anything for two whole weeks, but she lost something just 2 days later. We’ve also tried to coach her, telling her to look around her desk and beneath it to make sure that she isn’t leaving anything behind. Are we doing enough to help her? How will she ever learn to take care of herself? My New Year's resolution is to be a lot more careful with money and to shop very carefully as money is getting so tight for everyone. How do I make her more accountable for things and stop losing them or is it normal for an 8 year old girl to lose so many things?
