I always get this nasty looks from other moms whenever they notice my two year old is still wearing a diaper, some keep it to themselves and give me the “bad mom look” while some jokingly say “ehn ehn, you this big boy, you’re still wearing diaper at your age”. I don’t bother to reply to such comments, we all just laugh it away but the courageous ones will ask me ‘when are you going to getting him out of diapers? And to that, I’ll reply with a big smile.
Potty training is one of the milestones I’ve been looking forward to but, to be honest, it is not as easy as it looks. My baby just turned two few weeks ago and am of the opinion that toddler rarely do things they don’t want to do, and so I am not going to force him into it. I know one day he’s going to be ready for it.
Yes you are right if you conclude that i am not ready for him to be potty trained, at least that’s what one or two moms have said to me, but the truth is that i don’t find it appealing for him to be forced to sit on the potty, and knowing my son, he will want me to stay right there with him. At his age, I call them the Adventurous 2, they are just beginning to explore everything that is happening around them, so I feel it’s a torture to confine a moving train on a potty!. He’s trying to grasp so many things we are teaching him at this age and I think adding potty training would be a lot of pressure.
There is a lot of societal pressure on me, we are in a world where parenting has become a competitive sport, every parent want their child to out do the other parent’s child. I have been guilty of that too but with this one, I’m not falling for any pressure or looks. We are going to sit this one out, i will follow my instincts and let my child lead the way. He will eventually stop someday, it might not be today, but that’s fine! Read on how to potty train your child
