China’s oldest mother with her twins.
Very few women in the world are able to conceive at age 60.
But a 60-year-old woman gave birth to twins in 2010 thanks to IVF. Sheng Hailin, decided to undergo IVF treatment after her only child died, making her possibly the oldest person in the country to give birth.
The twins, Zhizhi, who weighed 1.85kg, and Huihui, 1.45kg, were born on May 25, 2010.

Pregnant at 60.
Their mother who is now 64 years old, felt a huge hole in her life after her daughter’s loss that she believed only another child could fill.
Sheng who is China’s oldest mother, was quoted by the China Daily as saying;
“To survive and free myself of the loneliness, I decided to have another child in my old age.”

Because of her age Sheng has trouble with physical tasks like bathing her two girls and so has hired two babysitters whose salaries are paid for by she and her husband’s pensions and earnings.
Some countries and clinics impose limits on IVF treatment which is known to become less effective with age and there is the child’s welfare to take into consideration.
