Ways To Steal Some Time When You Have A Toddler

Toddlers are adventurous, they are true innovators who think outside of the box and they work swiftly. I mean you can’t leave them alone for a second or they will have powder/Vaseline all over their body, they are a bunch of curious cats.  They are always on the move, they want to know the how and why of everything. My son once broke the screen of my phone because he wants to see who was talking at the other end of the line, Sigh!

Here are some ways you can keep your toddler entertained as least long enough so you can take a shower or breath

1. Play With Your Stuff

There is nothing more fun for a toddler than playing with something that they don’t think they should be playing with. They feel good that no one is restricting them. So the trick is to get them busy, give them a purse filled with things like an old phone, a ring of keys, and expired credit cards. This activity will hopefully buy you enough time to throw in a load of laundry or do any of the other super-exciting things that you have on your to-do list.

2. Clip The Pegs

They love challenges and the best way to keep them busy is by challenging them. Give them a big tray or bucket with plenty of colourful pegs, tell them to clip the pegs all around the edge of the tray or bucket. This will definitely engage your toddler.

3. Painting And Drawing

Again, toddlers like the forbidden or the unusual, so they will think this is cool for maybe three minutes. You might want to add something else like dried pasta and a funnel to the situation, and then you’ll have just enough time to text your partner to tell them they need to come home right away. Make them draw or paint anything they feel like it.  You would see so many imaginary stuff become reality.

4. String Things Together

String a lot of things together, it could be a large (non-choking) buttons and beads, tube pasta, wooden blocks — there are a million things to string and so little time. Give your toddler some string and something to put on it, and they will sit in one place to untangle it for at least the amount of time it takes you to have a few thoughts of your own. Totally worth it.

5. Make A Cave

I don’t know why toddlers love a make shift cave or castle so much, but they do. Pull all your chairs together, drape some blankets over the top and — voila! — instant toddler paradise. Add some stuffies and blankets, and they will be happy they have a place they can do everything.
