Babies and sleep are very synonymous in nature. They tend to sleep naturally except there is something wrong with them. They also grow in their sleep, and what they mostly do for the first few months of their lives is to eat and sleep.
Babies could have difficulties sleeping maybe because of colic pain or it could be anything. If your child is consistently crying and not wanting to sleep, it could be because he/she wants to feed, soiled diaper or even sick.
Here are tricks you could do to make a baby sleep-
Movement-
If a baby is having difficulties in sleeping for any reason, try swinging the baby slightly but avoid swinging vigoriously. Swinging a baby softly will get the baby to sleep, at first he/she might be giggling at the strokes of movement but when he/she is relax, the baby adjust to it and sleep off.
Change The Clothes-
The problem might be with the clothes the baby is wearing, it could be too small and stuffy. Dress your baby in comfortable clothes where he can easily move his body. Clothe him according to the weather. During the rainy season, wear him soft cotton fabric with a cardigan over it and during the sunny period, wear for him loose breathable cotton so as to allow in air.
Play Music-
This may sound weird but it actually works like magic. Babies are used to noise from the womb as a result of their mother’s heartbeat and the uterus. So a really quiet room can set them off and make them really cranky. Try playing music for the baby and after awhile you will have a sleeping baby.
Feed well-
As the saying goes “A hungry man is an angry man” and that is applicable to babies too. And considering the fact that their stomach is small compared to that of an adult, they will need constant in between feeding even in the middle of the night. A well feed baby tends to sleep quickly without much hassle than a hungry baby.
No Eye Contact-
Making eye contact with babies when you are trying to make them sleep could mean to them it is time to be awake and play. So when next you are trying to make a baby sleep, avoid making direct eye contact by looking away. This way, he will get a feeling it’s time to sleep and not play. You can make eye contact when you don’t want the baby awake.
