How To Drink Grapefruit Juice to Lose Weight

If you eat grapefruit or drink the juice before taking every meals, you are sure to lose weight and this is not just hear-say, it works and has been proved by research. Grapefruit juice contains properties that promote a healthy body and weight and drinking a small cup before meals may help reduce your appetite and could improve insulin resistance.

And why’s that? When you eat fewer calories than you burn, you’ll definitely lose weight and grapefruit will help you eat less.

Drink Grapefruit Juice Before Meals

So 20 minutes before your main meal, take grapefruit juice so that it can have a better impact on your diet. This effect was demonstrated when researchers from Vanderbilt University had 85 participants follow a low-calorie diet for two weeks. These same participants then continued the diet but added grapefruit juice, water or half a grapefruit before each meal for the next 12 weeks.

A study published in a 2011 issue of Nutrition and Metabolism showed that when the pre-meal snack (like grapefruit) was added, participants naturally ate 20 to 29 percent fewer calories overall without reporting greater hunger. Participants lost an average of 7% of their body weight over the study period.

Grapefruit juice, water and whole grapefruit eaten 20 minutes before a meal effectively reduced the participants’ appetites, so they ate less. So you can go for grapefruit juice or a slice of grapefruit before meals to help you eat less, as eating too much is a major problem most people have when it comes to dieting.

Not only that, the research also suggested that grapefruit is also good for keeping blood sugar levels under control – a key part of managing diabetes. So if you are diabetic, you can also drink grapefruit juice to help you manage your diabetes.
