When I got married, I got so many household items that I did not need to buy anything for my kitchen. They were so many that I had to create more shelves to stack them up .
A lot of these items has been of great use to me, they always come in handy whenever I need to make my work faster in the kitchen. But what have noticed is that I’ve not touched some of these items in my three years of marriage, whereas I’ve used some so much that they are due for a replacement.
For example, my pots handles are already falling off, my electric kettle is the first thing I switch on whenever I step into the kitchen (I always need hot water) and my blender has functioned more than what it’s made for. Have used my blender to do all sort of things that I have other machines for.
And I have some items that I can recall the number of times I’ve used it, like my food processor. But there are also some items that have need used. They are just sitting pretty taking up dust on my shelve.
I decided to clear my kitchen of a couple of really huge boxes of unnecessary stuff several months ago. Not only do I not miss all the stuff, I don’t even remember what extra stuff I had!
Rice Cooker
I still wonder why I will lift down a rice cooker to cook rice in it when I can readily grab my pot to cook the rice in. It’s always stressful for me and I never saw the need for it.
Bread Maker
I was surprised when I opened my wedding gifts and I saw a bread cooker. I said to myself that I will never buy bread from the mall anymore, I will be making fresh homemade bread for me and my family but behold, I have never opened it since the last time I was unwrapping it. Why will I be mixing dough for bread when I have ready made bread waiting for pick up at the mall.
Coffee Maker
I’m a coffee lover, whoever got me that machine knows me so well but the problem is that as a working mom, I leave home early that I take my coffee at the office, so have never had to use the coffee maker. And my husband does not like coffee, the fact that I will be the only one to drink it when I make it discourages me from using it.
I just simply pour my coffee into a mug and make it from there.
Deep Fryer
I’ve used this machine just once and I was totally turned off from it. It is very fast and saves you the stress of oil splashing on you while frying but the problem I have with it was that it requires much oil to for it to work. I almost finished my expensive oil because of the small plantain I wanted to fry. Since then, I stopped using it. I use my frying pan with ease and less oil.
Smoothie Maker
Making smoothie is healthy but stressful. I will have to buy the fruits, clean them, wash the smoothie machine, juice the fruits and clean the smoothie maker again. That’s a whole lot of stress for me when I can always buy already made healthy juice at a go. I will rather eat the fruits directly than go through the whole process of making a smoothie.
