Phone contacts are by far one of the most important information you have on your phone so when my phone got stolen at Oshodi one annoying Saturday like that, I wanted to cry. At that moment I wished I had synced my phonebook to my google account ’cause even after retrieving my sim, I didn’t get all my phone contacts back, that was how I lost some business contacts that were very important. I learnt a lesson though it cost nothing to back up your contact.

If you sync your contact with your google account so anytime you lose your phone you don’t have to ever worry, they will be stored in “Cloud” and you can get them anytime you need them. Here’s how to sync your phone book to your google account;

1. If you don’t have a gmail account already, you need to set up one. Then go to “Settings”, when you get to settings, click on “Accounts”, click on “Add account” you’ll see the G that represents Google, click on it to sign into your Google account.

2. It will bring your email address (Google account), click on it and you’ll see a list of data that can be synced to your Google account

3. Click on “Contacts” or “sync contacts” move the button to the right to permanently leave it on. It will be permanently on and will keep updating every time you add a new contact.

If you lose your phone or all your contact, all you have to do is log in to your google account on your new phone, then sync the new phone to your google account and your contact will come on the new phone. Or visit https://contacts.google.com on your browser to see all your saved contact.
