Finding the right sleeping position when you are pregnant is important so you can sleep peacefully through the night and avoid putting your unborn baby at risk. During pregnancy, rarely would you see 5 out of 2o women who sleeps peacefully through the night, as for me, when I’m pregnant, if pee doesn’t wake me up, I’d wake up feeling uncomfortable and try finding a right position to sleep in.

When you are pregnant, you are taking care of two people, not just you but your unborn baby’s. Below are the best positions to adopt when you are pregnant;

1. Sleep on your side

I’m sure you have probably heard this before, sleeping on your side is the best when you are pregnant, your left side specifically to help  increase the blood flow to the placenta. Keep your legs and knees bent and place a pillow between your legs.

2. Never sleep on your back

You might have heard this before, but while many know sleeping on your back during pregnancy is wrong, many don’t know why. Sleeping on your back can cause problems such as low blood pressure, back pain, digestion issues and breathing. When you are in this position, your entire weight is on your intestines and major blood vessels.

3. Quit caffeine

For a good night’s sleep you have to quit taking caffeinated drinks or anything that contains caffeine such as coke, coffee and whatever else.

4. Don’t eat late at night

Prepare your meal and eat about 2 hours before you go to bed, the food would have digested properly and you won’t risk heartburn. Fix a time you want to go to bed, prepare your food and consume it two hours before that time, it will help you sleep better through the night.
