A lot of bodily changes occur when a woman is pregnant and yeah a lot more happens to your breasts, in fact the girls are the very first ones that’ll give you the hint that you are pregnant because immediately you are pregnant, hormones begin their word to get your breast ready to breastfeed.

Trust me when I say, your breasts won’t be the same again while baby is on board, here are some of the things that might happen to your breast, don’t freak out!

1. They get big

I’ve heard a lot of Mamalettes say their husband love to suck their breasts when they are pregnant because it has increased in size, during pregnancy, it’s not only the belly that’ll become big even the boobs are too. When you are pregnant, the amount of fatty tissue and blood flow to your breasts increases in order to help the milk ducts and mammary glands grow.

2. They become heavy

Your breasts will begin to swell and become heavy not just because of the fluid it has retained, that is, the increased blood flow and expanded glandular tissue. This is as a result of increased progesterone and estrogen.

3. They’ll hurt

If you are small-breasted like me, you might like your big boobs during pregnancy, the only problem is they’ll become tender and because of the blood, swollen tissue, and fluid retention your breast may ache, sorry Mama. Sore breast isn one of the first symptoms of pregnancy.

4. Your nipples get nipply

Your nipples will spread and stick out more than it did before pregnancy. Not only that, the areola will become larger and darker, again hormones are at work. Small bumps may appear on the areola (Montgomery glands) if it’s not there already to protect your nipples and areola from cracking or drying out.

5. Boobs leak

Towards the second or third trimester of your pregnancy, your boobs might leak, a golden milk might come out from your boobs, this is called colostrum—the very first milk a woman produces during pregnancy and during the first few days after she delivers. If this happens often, wear breast pad.

6. They get stretch marks

You might not like this much either, but with the enlargement of the breasts comes stretch marks since the breast skin gets stretched during the enlargement process.  Your breast might also itch, if this happens, moisturize often after showering and at bedtime.
