6 Back-To-School Tricks That’ll Make Things Easier For You

The holiday is almost over, while most of us are excited as we can finally look forward to a regular routine that doesn’t involve screaming at the top of your voice at a toddler who wants to climb on top of your TV, we also have a few fears; how to familiarize our children with the routine once again.

So that you and I can start the school year on the right foot, here are a few tricks that’ll save the day;

1. Get the school numbers and have them in your cell phone

My child fell sick a week after resuming in school probably because she wasn’t used to the stress again, luckily I had the school’s number so I just called them up to inform them. You never know why you’d be needing the school’s number, add it to your contact list.

2. Buy everything in food in bulk

This is the perfect time to buy back to school foodstuffs, snacks, drinks, cereals, chocolates and whatever else you’d be needing when the kids resume school. I’ve bought groceries worth a month, that way they’s take cereals before leaving home and get lunch packed for them plus their favorite snacks and juice. And don’t forget their school supplies(shoes, uniform, books …..) too.

3. Play this game to reduce the first day of school nerves

Really my 3 years old daughter is sure to cry on the first day of resumption, she’s so used to mum’s pampering and the long hours of playing and watching cartoons that she’d probably run back with me when I drop her off in school on the first day of resumption. The same might be the case for your kids too so prepare them now by cheering them and reminding them even from now through a series of questions: “What’s your full name?” “What school do you go to?” “What class are you in?” “What’s your teacher’s name?” At the end of the questions, I say “yay!, my big girl is ready for school!”  I’ll ask the question on the d-day again, hopefully she’ll be as excited as I am.

4. Let them pick out their back-to-school outfits

Sunday night before the Monday of resumption is always busy, I’d have to make meals in preparation for the next day, then I get my kids to pick out their school outfit by themselves, the shoes, socks, bags with books packed into them, uniform, sweater and everything else are laid where they can easily pick them up the next day. That way they are reminded that tomorrow is the d-day and also make me have less to do.

5. Let them go to sleep 30 minutes before the normal time

The most Important part of getting off to a smooth back-to-school start is making sure they rest very well. So let them go to bed early. Resist the temptation to let them stay up a little later.
