Why I Chose Not To Get A Help Even Though I Really Need One

As a mother of three kids and a work-at-home mom I have a lot than I could bite on my hands, there are days when I ask myself how I do it. Being a work-at-home mom most people don't understand that I'm not a full house wife 'cause I still have to work for my salary and working while attending to a toddler and a house full of things to do is very tasking.

Today as I focused my eyes on the article I was writing, Jenny came to me "Mommy wata" I stood up and got her a cup of water, then request after request kept pouring in, one minute she wanted sweet the next she wants to play I didn't know when I screamed "Jeez! Will you lemme think!" 'cause my mind couldn't even dwell on the topic I was writing about and it was so frustrating.

I immediately closed the laptop and she gave me her toothy smile as if she's been waiting to see me do that since but why haven't I gotten myself a maid, family member, friend or someone to help?

1. I can't afford it

Getting a maid is not just expensive, it's costly 'cause I'll do a lot of shouting before they'll get things done, also I don't want one maid to come and wreck havoc in my family. But my real reason is, how much is my salary that I'll still be paying a maid from it when I'm always at home?

2. Can't trust no one

I've heard a lot of scary stories about evil nannies and house maids that I doubt if I'll ever be able to trust them with my kids, even if you put CCTV camera in the house, immediately they detect it, they might find other places to do their evil work to the child. They leave you feeling out of control, I can't allow that in my house.

3. It's not fair to the grandparents

I really would love to have any of the grandparents to help but hey, they took care of their own children why do they have to take care of mine too? It's not like that's their main reason for living is it? They love their grandchildren but those children aren't the centre of their life.

4. I love doing things my way

I have a rule for everything that happens in my house, what time the kids should sleep, how much TV they can watch, what they can eat or drink. But with the maid or whoever I hire to help when I'm not around, they'll change the rules and those rules are set up to ensure my children have healthy habits.

5. I can do it all so why not?

I work from home which allows me to be able to take care of my kids, my work schedule is flexible because I don't have any boss barking at me and thankfully my last born (1 year and 5 months old) doesn't disturb much, sleeps through the night (so I can continue my work), and  has a fairly good temper so yes, I've been doing everything well myself so why should I bother to get a help?

I know it's stressful but it's also doable and I'm doing it all alone! Wish me luck.
