This Is The Best Way To Make New Year's Resolutions

Do you always make new year's resolutions only to break them before the end of January?

You are not alone. Traditionally, New Year’s Day is seen as the ideal time to start a new phase in your life and the time when you must make your all important new year’s resolution.

However when it comes to setting New Year’s resolutions, most people shoot for the moon and often because of this find themselves right back where they started. Infact less than 10 percent of people actually keep their New Year’s resolutions.

What is the best way to make New Year's resolutions?

Think about how many resolutions you have made in the past and kept. If you haven't been able to keep any, maybe now is the time to quit making resolutions. Ignore the following steps.

If you can remember resolutions that you stuck with, think about why you were able to stick to your goals.

Now make realistic resolutions that you can actually keep. Try breaking down your goal into small pieces. For instance, if you want to lose weight, try quantifying the amount and then setting mini-goals for yourself to help track your progress. E.g. I want to lose 5kg by March.

Pick someone that you can be accountable to. If you do it alone, you may have a harder time keeping your resolutions. So find people who will not only cheer you on, but hold you accountable for your mistakes. Use your spouse, coworkers, friends, and even online support groups to keep your motivation high.

Give yourself room to fail.  The bottom line is that, at some point during the year, you may break a New Year’s resolution. But that doesn’t have to be the end of your goal. If you view your resolution in a black-or-white light, you may feel one mistake means failure and be tempted to give up entirely. It doesn’t have to be that way afterall failure is also part of the process.

Good luck!
