Coconut oil has many uses, and the fact that it’s natural makes it high in demand. Meanwhile, do you know you can make your own coconut oil? Yes, you can, to make your own coconut oil, read this.
Meanwhile, if you want to buy at a supermarket, look for one that is unrefined and non-deodorized so that the flavour and smell will remain fresh. Once you’ve bought your coconut oil, here are 7 things you can do with it;
1. Cook with it
You can easily cook with coconut oil, and I must tell you, coconut oil is great for cooking! Have you tried coconut rice? It just has this earthly taste (not when cooked by …..) It’s also healthy for consumption, try using it to fry or cook.
2. Use it as a butter replacement
You might be aware of this already, coconut oil is good for baking, you can replace butter with coconut oil while cooking, I even prefer my home-made coconut oil to butter when baking.
3. Remove gum from hair
If your children are playing rough and accidentally got gum stuck in their hair and they are freaking out, use peanut butter and ice cubes in removing the gum from places they don’t belong. All you need to do is to apply a generous amount of coconut oil directly to the hair and gum. Leave it to seep into the hair and gum, then slowly, slide out the gum from the hair.
4. As a lotion
Let me confess, I use homemade coconut oil body butter, and I can’t remember the last time I bought a body lotion. It smells great, it’s non-greasy like shea-butter and I know it contains just one ingredient, unlike the products we buy out there.
5. Use as anti-frizz
Most of the hair products we women buy are especially costly, the anti-frizz we buy for our human hair may not stop our hair from frizzing, rub a very small amount of coconut oil on your hair,(not too much so you don’t end up having a greasy hair)
6. Use as a massage oil
Hmm….Want to give your significant other a massage? Use coconut oil, it has a natural beautiful scent, it has no artificial fragrance or unknown ingredients and the bonus is, it won’t stain your sheets and towels, fabulous, right?
7. Use it to polish furniture
If you badly need to polish your furniture and you don’t have the chemical, dump the smelly chemical polishes and use your coconut oil along with some lemon juice to polish your furniture.
